At La Peony Clothing, we’re inspired by women who lead with purpose, especially when that purpose brings clarity, calm, and confidence into everyday life. That’s exactly what Tracy McCubbin does through her work as the founder and CEO of dClutterfly, a home organization company known for helping people transform their homes (and lives) from the inside out. Both La Peony and dClutterfly were founded in Los Angeles, a city known for style, reinvention, and a deep appreciation for curated living. That shared West Coast foundation makes this collaboration feel right at home.
We caught up with Tracy for a closet deep dive: how to declutter with intention, transition between seasons, plan outfits with ease, and embrace the idea that less really is more.
Q: How did dClutterfly begin?
A: “I’ve always lived by the philosophy, ‘don’t put it down, put it away.’ While I was working as a personal assistant and started to get calls for all kinds of organizing projects, I realized I could take my unique skills and turn them into a business. I’ve also grown up around family members who struggled with their relationship to stuff which gave me deep insight into our emotional attachment to our things.”

Q: What’s your approach to helping clients simplify their wardrobes?
A: “Start small and be kind to yourself. Pull one category, like jeans or shoes, and ask yourself three questions: Do I wear it? Does it fit and feel good? Does it reflect who I am now? If the answer’s no, it’s okay to let it go. We’re allowed to evolve, and our closets should too.”
Q: Do you have any advice for seasonal wardrobe transitions?
A: “Absolutely. I recommend doing two seasonal resets each year, ideally for spring/summer and fall/winter.
It’s more than a clothing swap; it’s a moment of reflection. Store out-of-season pieces in clearly labeled bins or garment bags, ideally under the bed or on a top shelf. This keeps your current wardrobe manageable and helps reduce decision fatigue. Plus, it’s a great time to evaluate what you didn’t wear and why.”

Q: At LPC, we love designing timeless pieces that work across seasons. What are your tips for intentional outfit planning?
A: “Outfit planning is a total game-changer. I encourage clients to create ‘go-to uniform’ based on their lifestyle, like wide-leg pants, a tank, and a blazer for workdays or a skirt, tee, and sneakers for weekends. Document outfits you love because once you’ve already visualized a look, you’re more likely to wear it confidently. And always choose quality pieces, not only will they fit you better but they will become staples of your wardrobe and last season after season.”
Q: Our collection is rooted in reducing overconsumption. What role does organization play in shopping more mindfully?
A: “A huge one. When your closet is cluttered, you forget what you own, which leads to impulse buys and an overwhelming wardrobe. When everything is visible and accessible, you shop less and appreciate more.
Organization is a form of sustainability in itself. It helps you rediscover the hidden gems in your wardrobe and breaks the cycle of constant consumption. Some of my favorite moments are when clients say, ‘I didn’t even know I had this!’ and fall back in love with their own clothes.”

Q: For someone ready to get started, what does dClutterfly offer?
A: We offer a variety of services, including closet organizing, home decluttering, and even garage organizing. We’re based in California and now, through our franchise opportunity, people who share our passion can build their own organizing businesses under our proven system. It’s a powerful way to serve your community while doing meaningful, transformative work.
